Obama Attempts to Exclude Fox News from White House Pool

.

Just when you thought the White House couldn't possibly do anything to make their bizarre feud with the Fox News Channel an even larger spectacle - the administration manages to take it to another level.

On the Oct. 22 broadcast of Fox News Channel's "Special Report," host Bret Baier revealed a White House pool announcement was offering Kenneth Feinberg, the "Special Master for Compensation," better known as the White House "pay czar" for interviews - all except for one network - Fox News.

"Today there was an announcement by the administration," Baier said. "They were putting out the pay czar, Kenneth Feinberg, as we showed you earlier for the White House pool - that Feinberg would be doing a round-robin interviews with the five-network pool that covers the White House - basically shares the costs and the daily coverage duties of covering the president. Fox News has been a member since 1997."

The press pool is comprised of the five major TV news organizations - CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox News. However, according to Baier, the other members declined to participate unless Fox News was included.

"When they put out that message, they specified that all members of the pool were welcome except Fox News," Baier said. "Well the other members of the TV pool said, ‘Well we're not going to do the interview unless Fox News is included."

Baier also pointed out how disproportionate the White House's access to the president has been. According to the "Special Report" host, NBC has conducted 12 interviews, CBS with 11 interviews, ABC conducting nine interviews and CNN with seven interviews. But Fox News - a total of two interviews.

Predictions that H1N1 vaccine would “trickle in” to Texas and the Houston area have turned out to be overly optimistic because of production delays. Instead of arriving by the thousands, doses have been hitting local health departments by the hundreds.

Sebelius Says U.S. Will Donate Part of H1N1 Vaccine Supply to Foreign Nations Before Meeting This Nation’s Demand

Subject: txt 1st hcare bdd libs othr -
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told CNSNews.com Wednesday that one in 10 doses of the swine-flu vaccine purchased by the U.S. will be donated to other nations before the U.S. demand for the vaccine is filled.

Sebelius also told a Senate committee that vaccine production is well behind demand.

"The president clearly has made it clear that his priority is safety and security of the American people, and immediately he also adds that we're a global partner. So we have joined now with 11 nations in terms of 10 percent of the vaccine will be made available to developing countries."

When CNSNews.com tried to clarify whether the donation would happen once the delay in production was over and all of the U.S. demand had been met, Sebelius said that was not the case.

“Well, no," she said. "Forty million doses was the initial benchmark and so once that is in this country, then 10 percent of the (doses are donated), and we’ll make up the rest."

Obama Effect already working to embargo Fox News story

Subject: txt 1st bdd vals msm bias libs reps -
Yesterday, Fox News reported the hearings held by Senator Joe Lieberman with cabinet officials concerning a shortage of flu vaccine. I'm sitting in Afghanistan not getting much broadcast TV news. I wanted to find out more, so I searched Google News for related articles. It turns out that as of this writing, the rest of the media is not reporting this event, at least in print.

Try this. Go to the Google search page, click on the "News" tab. Now enter "Joe Lieberman".

As of the time of this writing, I only find one mention of the hearings, from Fox News, in any of the big media outlets. Let's be clear on this. A leading Senator is holding hearings with three cabinet officials about an immediate health crises and no national media is covering it? Really?

I couldn't believe it. So I tried "Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee" as a search term. No luck.

Now try this. Go back to the Google News search and try "flu vaccine shortage". What you will find is a collection of local media stories (many of them) and very few national media mentions. The LA times covered the shortage as a Mexico, US problem.

The national print media is ignoring the flu vaccine shortage. They are not covering government investigations of the shortage and the impact. Yet Fox News is. Fox News is also the only national media organization being targeted by the White House.

What's the deal here?

Now go to your trusty Google News search page. Click the "2004" tab and search for flu vaccine stories from that year. What you will find, if you don't recall it off the top of your head, is a full on effort by the Democrats to blame George Bush for the flu vaccine shortage. The Democrats said then that it proved he was incompetent. Senator John Kerry claimed it showed Bush didn't care about the health of the vulnerable old and young.

In 2004, with President Bush in office the media flooded the lane with flu shortage stories. Today, only Fox News has chosen to protect your interests over that of President Obama. Yet it is Fox News, the White House claims, that is not a "real" news organization.

This is clear evidence that the White House is targeting Fox News for reporting straight stories that could damage the administration and in doing so it has scared the rest of the national media off of the story.

Pay Czar Feinberg, Not Obama, Behind Decision to Slash Executive Pay

Subject: txt 1st lbrty bbro - sclm -
White House pay czar Kenneth Feinberg was the driving force behind the move to order steep pay cuts from bailed-out executives, and did not even seek the president's approval before making his decision.

One official told Fox News that Feinberg from the start had the independent authority to work with companies and make such a call.

Obama was never required to sign off before final decisions were made...

[Got that? This Czar, appointed without any congressional oversight, which we've been told is ok because they don't really have any power, is stripping executives of 90% of their pay without the president (the president tells us) even knowing about it. The options are two: Obama's lying about his setting the direction of his czar, or lying about their being powerless.

"You decide." {I'll likely be using that phrase a lot for a while}]

A newly re leased battery of polls confirms the worst fears of the White House and the Democratic leaders in Congress.

What? That the stimulus is turning out to be a monumental failure in the present and is consigning future generations to an economy crushed by government debt? No, that's future generations' problem.

That President Barack Obama's feckless dithering over Gen. Stanley McChrystal's request for more troops in Afghanistan puts troops in the field at risk and dims the prospect of U.S. success? Heck no. Political victories are what matter, and an Obama fund-raiser just nicked a bunch of Wall Streeters for $2 million-plus - then he told them to shut up and surrender to his plans for government micromanagement of the economy's financial sector.

That Glenn Beck might turn up another Obama administration radical praising Mao, signing a petition saying 9/11 was an inside job or talking about his conversion to communism? Well, that's a legitimate fear, but it's not at the top of this list. Besides, there's always room under the presidential bus.

Their worst fear is that Americans will figure out that health care "reform" - the House version, the Senate version, the White House version, they all lead to the same government control - is a scam.

Brand-new polling shows that Americans are catching on...

Health Care Endgame: Thug Politics

So this is what "change we can believe in" done the Chicago way really looks like - Barack Obama and his White House capos muscling recalcitrant opponents and promising to crush those who don't get in line.

Obama has zeroed in on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Fox News and doctors. There's nothing coincidental about this trio of targets, either: They are, respectively, the nation's most powerful business lobby, the television voice for Middle Americans worried about where Obama is taking the country, and the professional group with the greatest potential power to kill Obamacare.

How the muscle is applied differs in detail from case to case, but the common message is there for all - you get in line or you pay a steep price for crossing Obama...

The goal clearly is to discredit, then bleed the chamber of its lifeblood, membership dues ... Politico reported, "on the same day as his energy secretary, Steven Chu, said it was 'wonderful' that companies had left the chamber" because of its opposition to cap & trade legislation...

The White House approved of Reid's message to recalcitrant doctors:

If they didn't drop their demand for medical malpractice lawsuit reforms their Medicare reimbursement payments would drop by 21 percent next year and by 40 percent by 2016...

Obama can't silence Fox, but that's not his goal. He's sending a message to all other news organizations that if they report on what Fox (and only Fox) is uncovering, they too will lose access to 'the won'...

Obama's war on most of the country

Subject: txt
On the one hand, we should celebrate the war between Fox News and the White House.

It is a good thing President Obama & Co. are angry with Fox. It means Fox is doing its job, you know, holding the Executive Branch accountable, like a real news organization.

A real news organization serves the people, acting as a check on power by informing people so they can make good decisions at the polls. The fact that Fox is holding Obama's feet to the fire should cause rejoicing.

On the other hand, there are three bad news dimensions to all this: the rest of the media is content to lick Obama's boots, true to pattern Obama is glad to selfishly attack a private news organization (by the way, the most highly rated television news group in the nation), and the more Nero fiddles, the higher the flames.

Barack Obama is happy to fight a war on Fox.

Oh, that the Commander in Chief would fight the war on terror with as much energy and focus.

The truth is Barack Obama is becoming a most divisive President.... [snip]

So the battle lines are clearly drawn. The President has made a clear declaration of war on at least half of his own people. Obama & Co. have made it clear: if you disagree with this President, you will be hounded, threatened, condemned and destroyed. How Maoist. (Dunn was not kidding.)

This is the change you voted for, this is the hope you expected, and this is the dawning of a new American age of unity, purpose and prosperity?

The only remaining questions are: how long will the People put up with Al Capone in the White House, how far will Al Capone push things, what will be the end game (2010 or 2012?), and how many bodies will he leave in his wake, both at home, and abroad?

Give War a Chance

With apologies to Louis Armstrong, it is not a wonderful world any longer. Today, it's a strange and dangerous world where reason and humanity have largely been replaced by fanaticism and treachery.

Leading the league in villainy are the Iranian mullahs and their chief enabler, the Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin. While America, Britain and France are desperately trying to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, Russia has announced it does not want to threaten the mullahs with economic sanctions.

Putin also says we should "compromise" with Iran. Let's see, how would that work? Perhaps the Iranians could promise to destroy only half of Israel. Maybe the mullahs could only finance and train Hezbollah and let Hamas go elsewhere.

This Putin is some piece of work. For years, he's been arming Iran, even sending them missile components. He does this because he knows Iran causes the USA and Israel much grief, and he likes that. President Bush's response was to invite Putin to his ranch for some barbecue. President Obama's response has been to remove some defensive missiles from Eastern Europe that Putin didn't like.

This is just dumb. Russia is doing everything it can to make sanctions impossible. I understand that Clinton has to be diplomatic, but the USA is getting its rear end kicked here.... [snip]

Many in the world despised Bush for acting alone in fighting the war on terror. Obama has promised to change the unilateral approach and seek consensus in defeating the bad guys.
How's it going so far, Mr. President?

Poll finds nearly 2 in 3 Americans are Manmade Global Warming 'Deniers'

.
According to a Pew Research Poll released today, the number of Americans believing there to be “solid evidence that the earth is warming” has dropped 14% since last year. And the biggest drop – 22% -- was among those identifying themselves as independents.

The number attributing the warming to human activity has dropped from 47% to 36%. What’s more, the number seeing global warming as a “very serious” problem is down 9 points to 35%.

These latest results would suggest that messages of continued scientific debate and flat or falling temperatures in the past 11 years are indeed being heard, despite a strident media campaign to silence them.

Only 46 days to go before climate alarmists from all over the planet are off on the road to Copenhagen, where they’ll attempt to finalize a treaty intended to control how the entire world produces and consumes energy.

But it appears that the de facto treaty leaders from the U.S. will not only arrive at the summit without an American climate bill with which to demonstrate their leadership, but also without the support of almost two thirds of the citizens they represent back home.

And happily, that doesn’t bode well for the energy governance threat, be it domestic or foreign.

The feds take a shot at guns

Subject: txt lbrty guns -
For a decade, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been forbidden by Congress from doing research on gun-control issues. Such piddling hurdles as federal law don't matter to the Obama administration.

With a wave of a hand, the CDC has simply redefined gun-control research so the ban no longer applies. They're not researching guns; they're researching alcohol sales and their impact on gun violence, or researching how teens carrying guns affect the rates of non-gun injuries.

"These particular grants do not address gun control; rather they deal with the surrounding web of circumstances,"

wrote National Institutes of Health (NIH) spokesman Don Ralbovsky.

Gun-control advocates claim that banning the CDC from examining gun control amounts to a gag order on science. After all, what can be wrong with further scientific inquiry? But the issue isn't about scientific inquiry. It is whether government resources should be used to promote an ideological agenda. .. [snip]

The 'research' on guns that the CDC conducted before the ban - and that "public health" advocates continue to produce - is a joke. The statistical methods to research people's behavior, such as criminal activity, are different from methods used to evaluate drug efficacy, where controlled experiments can be done.

In drug studies, patients don't determine who gets the real drug and who gets the placebo. In real life, gun ownership isn't assigned randomly. People who are more likely to be victims are more likely to own guns. They may still be more likely to be victims even after getting a gun, but are much less likely to be a victim than they would have been if they had never gotten one... [snip]

The CDC's brazen end run around restrictions on gun-control research is hardly surprising given that when President Obama served on the board of the Joyce Foundation, it was the largest private funder of gun-ban research in the country. Now he has the resources of the whole federal government.

First we'll get the half-baked studies followed by fawning press coverage. Then Democratic politicians and activists will pretend the gun restrictions they've always wanted were spurred by the new government 'research'...

[The dawn of a new political witch hunt. If they can sell global warming, anything's possible. And once only criminals and the government have guns we'll see what liberal nirvana looks like {for those that haven't been to Detroit or DC lately}.]

The ships, better able to chase down pirates, have been fast-tracked because the Navy wants vessels that can operate in coastal, or littoral, waters. Freedom is due to be deployed next year, two years ahead of schedule.
