Dept. of Homeland Security Warns of Domestic Rightwing Terrorists
Days after liberal media representatives blamed conservative talkers for cop killings in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a week before Tea Party protests will sweep the nation, the Department of Homeland Security issued a report warning that the recession as well as the current political environment could lead to acts of violence from "domestic rightwing terrorists."
The unclassified document, titled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," was posted by Roger Hedgecock and the Liberty Papers Monday (h/t Michelle Malkin).
Its contents read like the paranoid accusations of liberal bloggers and leftwing shills on MSNBC and elsewhere:
The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence, but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues. The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment.
The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks.
The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement. [? what law enforcement considers the increase in ammunition sales to be their primary concern? {A: they don't elaborate} snip]
Is the Obama administration now fueling the fire of the Left's War Against Conservative Opinion? Malkin seems to think so:
In Obama land, there are no coincidences. It is no coincidence that this report echoes Tea Party-bashing left-wing blogs (check this one out comparing the Tea Party movement to the Weather Underground!) and demonizes the very Americans who will be protesting in the thousands on Wednesday for the nationwide Tax Day Tea Party.
Read the entire scary document and decide for yourself.
[I find this 'report' extremely disturbing, because this is how totalitarian governments start: by defining an enemy within. Note that despite the constant use of 'terrorists' and 'extremists' and 'radicalization' et al, the actions which deserve such labeling are essentially the viewpoints of the average conservative or anyone who disagrees with what our current administration is doing. And the prevalent word connected to all those pejoratives throughout? Rightwing = thats the real cause behind all these potential threats...
Note too the prevalence of 'may', 'could', 'capable' and every other modifier under the sun to allow them to describe the most incendiary scenarios -- all without a single, not one, example to point to in support of their contentions.
I.e., it's pure attack politics fantasy - but in the form of an officious/serious report from our government. With the help of the msm, I am genuinely concerned about what this could portend.
It's known that we've Hezbollah sleeper cells in the country right now - but our Dept. of Homeland Security is publishing 'reports' warning us of 'right wing' Americans.
Yeah, it's a scary document all right.]

Face of Defense: Childhood Chums Serve Together in Iraq
As boys growing up together in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Air Force Staff Sgt. Jeremy Moersch and Army Spc. Brandon Kosky played cops and robbers, fighting "bad guys" and putting them behind bars in an imaginary world.
Now, more than 15 years later, they’re deployed here and doing something similar. But it's not a game now, and their actions are helping the Iraqi judiciary system.
"What they do is go out and conduct missions trying to find the bad guys, and they will bring back any equipment that they find with the bad guy, on their person or the place they may be living in. They bring that stuff back, which may include documents, media, or any type of communication equipment, and we exploit all of that for further intelligence value. Then, we give it back to them so they can use it for evidence to convict insurgents or use it for additional warrants and to go out and conduct additional raids."

An unreal agenda
When it comes to security policy, it seems everyone wants to be a “realist” these days. If that term has any meaning, though, President Obama's nuclear weapons and missile defense policies certainly would not qualify.
Take, for example, Mr. Obama's announced intention to rid the planet of nuclear weapons. The truth is, no matter how many world leaders, elder statesmen and others champion that goal, it won't happen. The associated technology is too widely available, the strategic value of nuclear weapons is too great and the possibilities of concealment in closed societies are too immutable for all nations to forgo the temptation to retain covert arsenals.
There is only one country on Earth that Team Obama can absolutely, positively denuclearize: ours.
This is how Mr. Obama's defense secretary, Robert M. Gates, described our nuclear posture before last fall's election:
“Currently, the United States is the only declared nuclear power that is neither modernizing its nuclear arsenal nor has the capability to produce a new nuclear warhead.” By contrast, he noted, “China and Russia have embarked on an ambitious path to design and field new weapons.” Even “the United Kingdom and France have programs to maintain their deterrent capabilities.”
In fact, every other actual nuclear power and wannabe is building up as we are going out of the business... [snip]
American security policy needs to be rooted in realism, all right, but that should be in the sense of what might be called “conservative realism” - in accordance with which the United States needs to equip itself and behave in light of the way the world really is, not on the basis of some fantasy about how it might be if only we disarmed.

Iran vows to make new rockets
Tehran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday Tehran is building new rockets that can carry heavier satellites than the one launched in February.
The hard-line president also vowed that Iran will proceed with manufacturing nuclear fuel, even as Washington is reportedly planning to ease its demands over the atomic standoff with the Islamic republic...

Iran Profilerates, We Disarm
.
The Obama administration and its European allies are preparing proposals that would shift strategy toward Iran by dropping a longstanding American insistence that Tehran rapidly shut down nuclear facilities during the early phases of negotiations over its atomic program, according to officials involved in the discussions.
And why would we bless Iran’s continued nuclear efforts, giving them the stamp of legitimacy, while we talk and talk and talk? Well, because Iran wouldn’t stop what they were doing:
European officials said there was general agreement that Iran would not accept the kind of immediate shutdown of its facilities that the Bush administration had demanded.
So we entirely capitulate, permit what has not previously been permitted and edge ever closer to accepting the inevitable:
”You have to design an approach that is sensitive to Iran’s pride,’ said Dr. ElBaradei, who has long argued in favor of allowing Iran to continue with a small, face-saving capacity to enrich nuclear fuel, under strict inspection. “
But what if they, you know, don’t want just a small, face-saving capacity?
Well, I suppose we’ll have to give in then too. And last week’s talk about nuclear nonproliferation? Ah, that applies only to us. The most visible, dangerous and immediate example of proliferation now gets a free pass from the U.S.
There is a fly-in-the-ointment. Israel may decide its existence is threatened and take military action.
Then we’d recoil in horror — shocked, just shocked — that another country would seek to stop the mullahs’ nuclear ambitions when all they wanted was a little respect. Israel becomes the world’s pariah and we benefit from its actions. Welcome to the world of American retreat and abdication.
Feel safer?

Our World: Iran's Western enablers
Egypt's recent actions against Hizbullah operatives are a watershed event for understanding the nature of the threat that Iran constitutes for both regional and global security. For years this country has been appealing to Egypt to take action against Hizbullah operatives in its territory. With minor exceptions, it has refused. Believing that its operatives threatened only us, the Mubarak regime preferred to turn a blind eye.
Senior ministers in the new Netanyahu government have for years been outspoken critics of Egypt for its refusal to act against Hizbullah and for its support for the Hizbullah/Iran-sponsored Hamas terror group. By going after Hizbullah now, Egypt is legitimizing both their criticism and the Netanyahu government itself.
But none of this seemed to interest Egyptian officials last week when they announced the arrest of 49 Hizbullah operatives and pointed a finger at Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah and his bosses in Teheran, openly accusing them of seeking to undermine Egypt's national security.
The question is what caused Egypt to suddenly act...

ObaMob Rule
Barack Obama is ignoring the words of the Democratic Party’s founder, Thomas Jefferson, who warned,
“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine”
The clearest reaction to the mob has been Obama’s rush to can CEOs who are unpopular. Liberal movie maker Michael Moore, giddy about Obama’s recent decisions, wrote,
“Did Obama really fire the chairman of General Motors?…Can he do that?..."
Jefferson and his fellow Founding Fathers held a deep rooted fear of what they called “mob rule.” If the people’s passions rule there will be no rule of law. Protecting individuals and their personal property, their labor, and their plans for the future is a primary function of government. They believed the government should never steal from the unpopular few and redistribute to the masses. The Founders embedded these rights in the Constitution.
Obama’s team sees America as a nation where might makes right; the will of the people as expressed through our visionary leader Obama is all that matters. An America without the restraint of power is dangerous. His arrogance towards the Constitution and our founders is astounding. But, it doesn’t matter to him because he received more votes... [snip]
Obama’s expansion of presidential powers should be very troubling to all Americans. Legalized plunder is gaining popularity. In the words of Patrick Henry;
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government -- lest it come to dominate our lives and interests."

Moral Education for the New Order
The Rasmussen folks last week revealed a poll wherein American young people are just about evenly divided on whether they prefer capitalism to socialism. Among our under-30 crowd, 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided.
Tie this purely disgusting finding to last year's Josephson Institute Report Card on the Ethics of American Youth, which determined levels of lying, cheating and stealing among high school students, and you'll see a very disturbing pattern of moral erosion.
- 30% stole from a store in the past year; 23% stole from a parent or other relative; 20% stole something from a friend.
- 42% lie regularly to save money; 83% lied to a parent about something significant.
- 64% cheated on a test in the last year; 38% cheated 2 or more times; 36% used the internet to plagiarize an assignment.
And by students' own admission, 26% confessed they lied on at least one or two questions on the survey. Experts agree that dishonesty on surveys usually is an attempt to conceal misconduct, i.e., to make oneself appear better than he actually is. But it gets even worse.
High school students admit to vast amounts of lying, cheating and stealing, but lo and behold, their confessions make nary a dent in their ethical self-esteem. A staggering 93 percent said they were satisfied with their personal ethics and character and 77 percent said that when it comes to doing what is right, "I am better than most people I know."
Those who lie now to parents and school authorities will certainly lie to get employment and then lie to stay employed. Those who cheat now on tests will later cheat the system for as much personal gain as they possibly can. Those who steal from stores and friends now will certainly steal even more from a public trough where they never come face to face with the real people from whom they are stealing.
These paragons of low virtue that our schools are turning out will make the perfect little socialists that a third of them apparently now dream of becoming. They'll do as little as possible to get by and won't even flinch before taking all they can from the inevitable scarcity of goods produced by state-tyrannized enterprise.
And which citizens among us are the most prone to lying, cheating, stealing, selfishness, and money-grubbing?

AUSTRALIA: MORE VIOLENT CRIME DESPITE GUN BAN
It is a common fantasy that gun bans make society safer. In 2002 -- five years after enacting its gun ban -- the Australian Bureau of Criminology acknowledged there is no correlation between gun control and the use of firearms in violent crime. In fact, the percent of murders committed with a firearm was the highest it had ever been in 2006 (16.3 percent), says the D.C. Examiner.
Even Australia's Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research acknowledges that the gun ban had no significant impact on the amount of gun-involved crime. Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent.
While this doesn't prove that more guns would impact crime rates, it does prove that gun control is a flawed policy. Gun banners promote a failed policy regardless of the consequences to the people who must live with them.

'We want them registered'
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, announced last week that she wants to register guns. Her next move will be to try to confiscate them. The speaker picked a television show with a viewership of 4.6 million to float the Democrats' coming gun-control push... [snip]
Numerous examples disprove gun-control propaganda. Hawaii has had licensing and registration of guns for about 50 years. After all of the administrative expenses and inconvenience imposed on gun owners, police there cannot point to a single crime that has been solved as a result of those programs.
Given Hawaii's remote island geography, this should be an ideal place to keep track of guns because movement in and out of the state is limited and legal importation is controlled. If registration 'worked' anywhere, it would have worked there. It didn't...
[The stats are irrefutable. The only thing registration is good for is as an aid for those tasked with someday collecting the legal ones to know where to go.]

ABC: Scaring Parents About Kid's Friend's Gun Owning Parents
[Meanwhile, in the MSM...]
Wait a minute Mom. Don't let little Johnny go to his buddy Tommy's house. Tommy's parents are psychos that own -- **gasp** -- GUNS! This is the message that ABC is telling parents in an April 10 piece headlined, "Before Arranging Playdates, Ask About Guns."
Here ABC attempts to make every gun owner seem like a lunatic just ready to blow and encourages parents to be deathly afraid of anyone that owns a gun. It encourages parents to pry into the lives of family members of their kid's friends and bases it all on the lies passed off as scary gun violence statistics... [snip]
ABC then introduces us to this PAX USA organization, the aforementioned "non-partisan" group that seems to sever as a left-wing Hollywood actor's resume plumper. And this group unleashes some obviously false statistics about guns.
"Nearly 1.7 million children live in homes with firearms that are loaded and unlocked, and every day eight children die from guns."
Um, no. That would be what the boys at the FBI call a lie... [snip]
According to the Center for Disease Control, in 2005 652 kids between ages 1 and 15 were killed by gunfire. And why so many between the ages of 15 and 18? The long and short answer is gangs. Unless most parents are sending their middle and late teenaged kids into gang infested areas to "play," it doesn't seem that they have much to worry about statistically.
But, logic and sense aren't ABC's goal, here. Alarmism and anti-Second Amendment rights is.

Koh's Academic Hero Proposed 'Global Dictatorship'
Criticism of President Obam'a nomination of Harold Koh, the dean of Yale Law School, has focused so far on Koh's extremely radical outlook that appears to elevate international law above U.S. law. Some critics contend he even espouses the application of Islamic sharia law in the U.S.
Cliff Kincaid now posits that Koh believes in a world government financed by global taxes — a view he imbibed from his acknowledged mentor, Louis B. Sohn, a professor of law at Harvard. Sohn was not only a chief author of the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) but also proposed transforming the United Nations into a world government in his book, World Peace Through World Law:
Sohn said that he wanted this world government to maintain hundreds of thousands of troops, military bases, and be armed with nuclear weapons. The purpose, he said, would be to disarm “each and every nation and to deter or suppress any attempted international violence.” This “world authority” would also require a “United Nations Revenue System,” drawing taxes from “each nation” of the world, he said.
The term “world government” is too benign for what Sohn proposed. The term “global dictatorship” would be more appropriate. But this is the direction that Koh apparently would take us.
With every such revelation it seems more clear that empowering adherents of world government like Koh threatens America's national sovereignty.

Lawmakers, Veteran Groups Debate JROTC Program in San Francisco
CALIFORNIA
The fight to keep Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps programs in San Francisco's high schools is far from over, despite a last-minute push by veterans groups across the country. And who ultimately wins the battle could determine the future of the program in many cities throughout the U.S.
"We should be doing as much as we can to get children to stay in school and promote leadership development and community service," ... "This is about the students' right to choose and about programs that work"
Opponents of JROTC programs, meanwhile, say educating students should remain a role for civilians, and not for retired members of the armed forces...
"This is military training, it's that simple," .. "This is about softening up very impressionable, open-minded, young teenagers to the cult of militarism. Military skills have no place in public schools."
[Who have life experiences more important to pass on to children than veterans? Cult of militarism? No place in public schools? 'Public' used to be synonymous with universal; for everyone. Evidently it's now to mean politically 'correct' only.
Yet another reason we need privatize education in the country and take it out of the hands of all levels of government. Things will only get worse until we do.]

The Tea Party Revolution
.
Because these events are highly decentralized, with no significant institutional organization or funding behind them, they represent a genuine outpouring of grassroots opinion with enormous political importance. For every person out in the streets today, there are undoubtedly many more who didn't make it who share the same opinions. The bigger the demonstrations today, the bigger the rest of the iceberg under water.
These people are both against and for something. They are against the left-wing extremism of the current political leadership in Washington, from Barack Obama to Nancy Pelosi, to Barney Frank, to Henry Waxman, and on and on.
But even more, the tea party revelers are for a sophisticated vision of economic freedom. They recognize that the more resources the government takes out of the private sector, through taxes, borrowing and spending, the less freedom that average working people have left for the pursuit of happiness.
In other words, the more the government takes your money to spend on what it wants, the less freedom you have to choose to spend, or to save and invest, your own money as you want.
All of this is why America will be in the streets today demanding a U-turn from Obama's road to oblivion, returning to Reagan's highway to prosperity, which Bush mistakenly exited.

Tea Parties, Homeland Security and Silencing the Opposition
.
Today the Washington Times printed an article about Obama’s DHS crew releasing a report about, and plans to step up efforts to watch, “Right Wing Radical extremists.” Interesting that this is released just before the Tea Parties are scheduled to happen across America.
From the article itself:
A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines “rightwing extremism in the United States” as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.
This is just one step closer to the normative labeling of anyone that disagrees vocally with the Obama administration as extremist. Speak out heavily against illegal immigration; be careful you could be tagged as a right-wing extremist. Listen to Rush Limbaugh; be careful you could be tagged as a right-wing extremist. Abortion, ditto. Gun control, taxes and on and on.
Hey, political correctness has worked like a charm for the left and to a large degree put Barack Obama in the White House. Why not step up the game with a little monitoring and ostracism of the opposition?
The DHS report can be read as a chilling first step toward silencing the opposition.
