Poll shocker: Scott Brown surges ahead in Senate race
Poll shocker: Scott Brown surges ahead in Senate race
Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.
Although Brown’s 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News survey’s margin of error, the underdog’s position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos...

One Hot Race: National players join Senate battle in Mass.
Subject: txt 1st 2010 - as Brown cuts into Coakley's lead
BOSTON -- Once considered a lock for Democrats, the race for Massachusetts' second seat in the U.S. Senate has gone from a sleepy affair to an all-out war being played out locally and nationally as Attorney General Martha Coakley and state Sen. Scott Brown sprint for the finish.
Energized by polling data that suggests the race could be a virtual dead heat, Brown and his supporters have sent a scare through the Democratic establishment in Massachusetts by showing that a Republican can not only compete, but just might win.
"I wish they would stay out of it, and let Martha and I talk about the difference between us,"
Brown told The Sun this week.
"I don't need anyone's help. I need people's help."

New York Sen. Charles Schumer, who famously hammered then-Sen. BOSTON - It's all about health care.
The race to replace Ted Kennedy in the US Senate has come down to one issue, and it's not Sen. Kennedy's "legacy." It's the misshapen health-care bills that have scared the bejesus out of an ever-growing majority of American voters, even in this bluest of states.
Asked his view of the bill, the Republican candidate, state Sen. Scott Brown, says succinctly:
"It kinda stinks."

The President's Bait-and-Switch Operation
Subject: txt crpt bdd reps libs 2010 -
Americans learned last year that President Obama discards campaign promises like most people discard used Kleenex.
Among the pledges he cast aside were reducing the deficit, reining in federal spending, not allowing lobbyists to work in his administration, increasing taxes only on those who make more than $250,000, and opposing "government-run health care" because it is "extreme."
On many of the most basic issues raised in the campaign, and in describing the kind of leadership he would practice, Mr. Obama misled voters.
Americans will overlook a lot of things when it comes to politicians—but being on the receiving end of a giant bait-and-switch game isn't one of them.
And this year, Mr. Obama is picking up where he left off. ..

The humorous definition of a conservative is: a liberal who's been mugged. On September 11, 2001, the entire country was mugged and so it's no surprise that the latest polls show that the majority of America remains conservative.
Unfortunately, many in Congress, the White House and this great city have not experienced any such epiphany and refuse to recognize that the attacks were an act of war on our nation...

When Will the Democratic Party Grow Up and Seriously Address National Security?

Sadly, it has become apparent that children have been elected to govern us. These children maintain a stubborn belief that they can force the world to conform to their fantasies just because they wish them to be true. (If we simply extend the hand of friendship and/or grovel sufficiently, the Jihadis will like us and leave us alone.)
In light of the sober reality of hundreds of crazed Muslim killers lined up in Yemen to blow themselves to pieces, is there no one in this present administration with the grown-up sense to advise that the “reset button” be pushed to return us to proven policies of the Bush years – policies that demonstrably kept us safe?
Or is the hubris of Obama, Biden, Holder, Napolitano, Pelosi, et al so overwhelming that they are willing to sacrifice American lives for the sake of clinging to their naive ideas about human nature and the existence of evil in the world?

Computer attacks on Google that the search giant said originated in China were part of a concerted political and corporate espionage effort that exploited security flaws in e-mail attachments to sneak into the networks of major financial, defense and technology companies and research institutions in the United States, security experts said.
At least 34 companies -- including Yahoo, Symantec, Adobe, Northrop Grumman and Dow Chemical -- were attacked, according to congressional and industry sources.
Google, which disclosed on Tuesday that hackers had penetrated the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights advocates in the United States, Europe and China, threatened to shutter its operations in the country as a result.

White House: We're going to tax banks whether that hurts consumers or not
Subject: txt mny - sclm bbro - lbrty -
The White House press briefing is under way as we speak, and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked about whether the White House's proposed new tax on banks would merely be passed on to consumers. Gibbs' response, via the twitter feed of David Corn from Politics Daily, is rather astonishing:
Gibbs: "let your money do the talking". Suggests customers move $ out of banks thatvpass along tax. #whbrief 4 minutes ago
Gibbs: if banks pass thetax along to consumers-when paying big bonuses-customers can bank elsewhere. #whbrief 5 minutes ago
That's right, if the White House is responsible for making you pay more for banking services, well tough -- you can just find another bank.
The logic behind the tax is shaky to begin with -- who trusts bankers to cut their precious executive compensation in favor of taking care of their customers? -- but then the arrogance of insisting taxpayers reconfigure all their financial dealings should the White House continue to adversely meddle with their banks is beyond the pale.

Foreclosures hit a record in 2009. This year could be worse.
Subject: txt mny -
A record 2.8 million US properties were served with foreclosure filings in 2009. This year, it could be even worse as a new wave of homeowners falls into delinquency.
Already, 1 in 45 homes in the US received at least one foreclosure filing last year; in troubled Nevada, it was 1 in 10, according to a report released Thursday by RealtyTrac, an online marketplace for foreclosed properties, based in Irvine, Calif.
The numbers "are bad, but in all likelihood they should have been worse," says Rick Sharga, senior vice president with RealtyTrac. "We've seen a lot of artificial slowing of foreclosure proceedings that are intended to help the homeowner. But realistically, such efforts are only putting off, and increasing the total cost of, the inevitable...
So while states, cities, and even banks are slowing the foreclosure process by looking for ways to keep overly indebted homeowners in their homes, the prospects that many will avoid foreclosure are not bright...

In summary, revenues are down $59 billion (11%) and spending is up $98 billion (13%) for the first quarter of fiscal 2010 as compared to 2009. Even before the passage of the $2.5 trillion healthcare bill, this Administration's willful disregard of basic economic principles is a lethal cocktail for the welfare of this country.
America's national security is ultimately tied to the health of the American economy. This Democratic Congress and Administration have purposely allowed our economic decline to accelerate. China, Russia, Iran and North Korea must be carefully pondering those once impossible questions about the fate of the United States of America.

Ending Corruption in Washington

Even as our government officials claim that the worst of the recession is behind us, their actions hardly indicate that they believe it themselves. The financial reform bill that the House of Representatives passed last month authorizes the Federal Reserve to provide up to $4 trillion in emergency relief to big banks the next time things come crashing down.
This flies directly in the face of the oft-heard assurances that the bailout spree is over. Obviously not, as the House is laying the groundwork for the continuation of the money bonanza.
And what a bonanza it promises to be... [snip]
We are now paying the price for losing sight of this country's founding principles and granting politicians extra-constitutional powers in the misguided belief that they would solve our problems.
That was an unwise thing to do, because instead of the goodies they promised, they have delivered abuse, theft, and corruption. We need to look no farther than Barney Frank's "financial-reform" legislation to see it...

CRU ‘Scientist’ Got $540K ‘Stimulus’
Subject: txt intl grn owg -
Washington, DC – In the face of rising unemployment and record-breaking deficits, policy experts at the National Center for Public Policy Research are criticizing the Obama Administration for awarding a half million dollar grant from the economic stimulus package to Penn State Professor Michael Mann, a key figure in the Climategate controversy.
"It’s outrageous that economic stimulus money is being used to support research conducted by Michael Mann at the very time he’s under investigation by Penn State and is one of the key figures in the international Climategate scandal. Penn State should immediately return these funds to the U.S. Treasury,"
said Tom Borelli, Ph.D., director of the National Center’s Free Enterprise Project.
"It’s no wonder that Obama’s stimulus plan is failing to produce jobs. Taxpayer dollars aren’t being used in the ways most likely to spur job creation. The stimulus was not sold to the public as a way to reward a loyalist in the climate change debate. Nor was the stimulus sold as a way to promote the Obama Administration’s position on the global warming theory.
This misuse of stimulus money illustrates why tax cuts are a better way to stimulate the economy than letting the government decide where to spend taxpayer dollars. As is often the case, political considerations corrupt the distribution of government funds,"
said Deneen Borelli, a fellow with the National Center’s Project 21 black leadership network.

ClimateGate's Michael Mann Received Stimulus Funds, MSM Mum
Subject: txt grn msm mny -
A scientist in the middle of the ClimateGate scandal received economic stimulus funds last June. As reported on November 28, Penn State University is investigating Professor Michael Mann, the creator of the discredited "Hockey Stick Graph," for his involvement in an international attempt to exaggerate and manipulate climate data in order to advance the myth of manmade global warming.
Despite the obviously controversial nature of this funding and its recipient, I can identify absolutely no media coverage concerning the matter.
I'm sure now that NCPPR has exposed this hypocrisy, press outlets across the fruited plain will be aggressively investigating economic stimulus grants to Mann and others involved in the ClimateGate scandal in order to inform the public about how their tax dollars are being spent.
Of course, I'm not holding my breath.

Quote Of The Week
[HT:MH]"Frankly, I don't know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office. I'm not bragging, you understand, but no other state, including Maine, even comes close. When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we're number one. There's no getting around the fact that the last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron when the curtain went up on 'Macbeth'. The three of them are like jackasses who happen to possess the gift of speech. You don't know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words."
