Support for a free market economy remains strong despite the extended recession and last fall’s Wall Street meltdown.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 76% of voters now say a free market economy is better than one managed by the government. Only 10% prefer an economy managed by the government.
And those figures are virtually identical to the numbers from a year ago.
Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republicans and a plurality (45%) voters not affiliated with either major party, think there are too many market restrictions.
Fifty-four (54%) of Democratic voters take the opposite view and say there feel there are not enough restrictions on the free market.
