Message to Copenhagen

.

Our Constitution Begins, "We the People..."

These are the opening lines of a message to the American delegates in Copenhagen and the rest of the world sent on behalf of the American people by American Solutions. They are meant as a reminder to both Obama Administration officials and international climate activists that under our constitutional system, the American people, not government bureaucrats, are sovereign.

And if you have any doubt that the delegates at Copenhagen need to hear this message, take a look at this:

This is a reference guide being handed out by one of the non-governmental organizations at Copenhagen to keep track of all the proposals to reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation. It's purposefully modeled after the Chinese mass murderer Mao Tse-Tung's "Little Red Book of Communism."

Can the profoundly undemocratic nature of this conference be any clearer?

Radical Environmentalism Is "The New Socialism"

Charles Krauthammer calls the shake down occurring in Copenhagen and the EPA's domestic power grab "the new socialism"

"Following the death of the old socialism with the Soviet empire, the cultural elites went straight from the memorial service for socialism to the altar of the environment. The objective is the same: highly centralized power given to the best and the brightest, the new class of experts and technocrats. This time, however, the alleged justification is saving the planet."

Substituting the Advice and Consent of the Senate with the Bureaucratic Power of the EPA

When he travels to Copenhagen this week, President Obama is reportedly going to pledge to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent by 2020.

The Obama Administration's various threats to act unilaterally - both in Copenhagen and at home via the EPA - to achieve this goal occur against the backdrop of this inescapable fact: The Senate, reflecting the will of the American people, refuses to pass the administration's job killing cap and trade legislation.

The result is that the administration is preparing to bypass the Senate with its announcement last week that the EPA will regulate carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant .

This would be a breathtakingly anti-democratic and unconstitutional arrogation of power on the part of the President.

And if the question is, "Will the new socialism succeed?" the answer is, "Not if the American people have anything to do with it." Today, the 236th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, American Solutions is issuing a rallying cry to the American people.

Our message is that no imperial presidency, no totalitarian bureaucracy, and no global international elite can or will usurp the power of We the People.

The full text of our ad, which will appear in the daily newspaper of the Copenhagen conference tomorrow:

MESSAGE FROM AMERICA
TO THE AMERICAN DELEGATES IN COPENHAGEN
AND THE REST OF THE WORLD

In America, We Have a Constitution.
It Begins: "We the People"

Our Constitution Requires International Agreements to
Be Agreed Upon By our Senate

Our President Does Not Have Support in our Senate for
Binding Carbon Emissions Limits

Our Environmental Protection Agency Recently Asserted It Has the
Power to Impose Carbon Emissions Limits

Such Action would be Tantamount to our Executive Branch Taxing the American People without
Approval from the Elected Representatives in our Legislative Branch

That's Called "Taxation without Representation" and
We Will Not Stand for it

The American Revolution and a Famous Tea Party in
Boston in 1773 Was About Rejecting Taxation without Representation

We Reject Taxation without Representation even if it
is attempted by our President through an international "political" agreement like the Copenhagen 15

Through Our Election Process, our Presidents, Representatives, and Administrators Are
Accountable to the American People

Unlike Other Countries, We Do Not Have a Democracy Deficit

In America, Mesdames and Messieurs, We the People Govern

Gore Refuses ClimateGate Questions, UN Official Disconnects Mic [again]

Subject: txt 1st grn owg -
United Nations security officials have once again prevented a journalist from asking attendees at the climate change conference in Copenhagen questions about the growing ClimateGate scandal.

This time, the person on the receiving end of the apparently forbidden queries was Nobel Laureate Al Gore.

Much as when Ireland's Phelim McAleer tried to ask Stanford professor Stephen Schneider questions Thursday about the controversial e-mail messages obtained from the British Climatic Research Unit last month, McAleer was similarly rebuffed by Gore and his entourage Monday.

Not only did the former Vice President completely refuse to answer questions about his blatant misrepresentations of the age of the most recent e-mail message obtained from Britain's CRU, a U.N. security official actually disconnected McAleer's microphone to make sure any answers would be unrecorded (video embedded below the fold, h/t Climate Depot):

WH 'Command and Control' EPA Threat Confirms C of C Head's Prediction, Gets Almost No Establishment Media Coverage

Subject: txt grn engry msm -
Has anyone else noticed how chilling it has been during the past few days? Not chilly (though it's been that too). Chilling.

On Monday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency declared, in the Associated Press's words, that "greenhouse gas emissions are a danger and must be regulated."

The AP, in the item just linked, and many other news outlets carried U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donahue's warning that regulations based on EPA's declaration could lead to

"a top-down command-and-control regime that will choke off growth by adding new mandates to virtually every major construction and renovation project."

Two days later, in an item carried at FoxNews.com that says it was the result of contributions by Fox's Major Garrett and the AP, a White House official confirmed the legitimacy of Donahue's stated fear (bolds are mine):

"The Obama administration is warning Congress that if it doesn't move to regulate greenhouse gases, the Environmental Protection Agency will take a "command-and-control" role over the process in a way that could hurt business."

It seems to me that an administration threatening "command and control," with its echoes of authoritarian regimes throughout history -- an approach that an opponent predicted would occur, and which has now been promised -- might be, well, I don't know, news at establishment media outlets other than Fox.

But, with rare exceptions, it's not.

Oh, and I almost forgot to note that an APB has gone out on the far left for any and all information that might discredit the Chamber's Donahue.

It's going to take more than adding another sweater to do something about this government-driven, media-complicit chill.

Our country is in big trouble ... huge trouble. It is time that Americans took a hard look at our values, our conception of justice, and our standards for truth. This piece is intended as a first step in that direction.

The story of Tiger Woods and his (now admitted) "infidelity" is everywhere. The Woods' story has piqued the prurient interests of America and the world. The story has dominated the mainstream media for days while the injustice being committed against our Navy Seals and the revelation of the computer code from the CRU (exposing the biggest hoax in the history of the world) have gotten scant attention... [snip]

The mainstream media has downplayed the significance of the CRU documents. The headline of a recent AP story proclaims that the science from the CRU was not faked. Really? As (among others) Marc Sheppard, Lord Monckton, and I have proven the CRU findings most certainly were doctored. The raw date was manipulated to "prove" that the world is exponentially warming. There is no doubt about this.

And still, the mainstream media has not challenged Al Gore on the blatant absurdity of his claim that the documents were at least ten years old and have no real impact on the AGW debate. CNN did ask him to recite his new poem on the impending doom of mother earth. See that video here. (But not if you have recently eaten a meal. You could lose it.)

John 8:32 states the following:

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

The corollary of this brilliant piece of scripture should also be written. It would go something like this:

If you ignore the lies, the lies will imprison you.

Wake up America. The time for the truth to set us free is growing very, very short

EPA CAUSES COAL COMPANY TO LAY OFF NEARLY 500 MINERS

Subject: txt grn 1st engry sclm bbro -
A Pittsburgh-based coal company, CONSOL Energy, will lay off nearly 500 of its West Virginia workers next year. CONSOL Energy's political problems are not unique to the mining industry, which has suffered under the Obama Administration:

  • The Environmental Protection Agency is already holding 79 surface mining permits in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
  • The EPA says these permits could violate the Clean Water Act and warrant "enhanced" review.
  • The agency went even further in October, announcing plans to revoke a permit for the Spruce No. 1 Mine in West Virginia.

CEO Nicholas J. DeIuliis said the poor economy compounded by legal challenges by environmental activists forced CONSOL to slash jobs:

  • It is challenging enough to operate CONSOL'S coal and gas assets in the current economic downturn without having to contend with a constant stream of activism in rehashing and reinterpreting permit applications that have already been approved or in the inequitable oversight of our operations.
  • Customers will grow reluctant to deal with energy producers they perceive are unable to guarantee a reliable supply due to regulatory uncertainty; this inhibits the ability to remain competitive.

Obama’s Assault on Economic Freedom

Subject: txt mny lbrty -
Yesterday, President Obama’s two principal economic advisors -- National Economic Council Director Larry Summers and Council of Economic Advisors chair Christina Roemer -- gave us a glimpse into the continued tumult in the White House’s over how to restart America’s economic engines.

Announcing its newest economic intervention, EPA administrator Lisa Jackson threatened Congress that if it didn’t pass the “cap and trade” global warming tax, “... the EPA is going to have to regulate in this area." She said EPA “…is not going to be able to regulate on a market-based way, so it's going to have to regulate in a command-and-control way, which will probably generate even more uncertainty." And infringe even more on economic freedom.

Last week, in his “jobs” speech, Obama said, “There are those who claim we have to choose between paying down our deficits on the one hand, and investing in job creation and economic growth on the other -- but this is a false choice."

He is precisely wrong.

The more the government grabs and spends, the less chance there is that jobs will be created....

Support for a free market economy remains strong despite the extended recession and last fall’s Wall Street meltdown.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 76% of voters now say a free market economy is better than one managed by the government. Only 10% prefer an economy managed by the government.

And those figures are virtually identical to the numbers from a year ago.

Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republicans and a plurality (45%) voters not affiliated with either major party, think there are too many market restrictions.

Fifty-four (54%) of Democratic voters take the opposite view and say there feel there are not enough restrictions on the free market.

Copenhagen climate summit: Al Gore condemned over Arctic ice melting prediction

Subject: txt 1st grn owg -

Speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, Mr Gore said new computer modelling suggests there is a 75 per cent chance of the entire polar ice cap melting during the summertime by 2014. Alluding to Dr Maslowski’s work, he said: “

These figures are fresh, I just got them yesterday."

However, he faced embarrassment last night after Dr Wieslav Maslowski, the climatologist whose work the prediction was based on, refuted his claims.

Dr Maslowski, of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, told The Times:

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at. I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s speech also provoked criticism from leading members of the climate science community, who described the projection as “aggressive”...

Climate change for 18 years: ‘An orchestrated litany of lies’

Subject: txt 1st grn owg -
As the Copenhagen climate talks enter their final phase, President Obama and 115 other world leaders are attempting to impose drastic carbon dioxide reductions on developed nations and to transfer billions of dollars to Third World countries to help them do the same, based entirely on highly suspect computer models.

Dr. Vincent Gray, who resigned from the Royal Society of New Zealand to protest the inaccuracies in a report on climate change it issued on July 12, minced no words when he called the entire global warming scenario “an orchestrated litany of lies”:

“As an Expert Reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for eighteen years, that is to say, from the very beginning. I have submitted thousands of comments to all of the Reports. My comments on the Fourth IPCC Report, all 1,898 of them, are to be found at IPCC (2007) and my opinions of the IPCC are in Gray (2008b)

“I am therefore very familiar with the arguments presented by the IPCC, many of which have now been copied by the Royal Society of New Zealand, and the responses to them….

The globe is warming

“This statement is a lie. The globe is currently cooling. According to the CSSP Report (Karl et al 2007), there are currently nine authorities currently involved in providing a dataset of monthly global temperature anomalies. They are:

NOAA’s National Climate Data Center (NCDC, GHCN-COADS)
NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS)
Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia (HadCRUT2v)
NOAA radiosonde network , (RATPAC)
Hadley Centre Radiosonde Network (HadAT2)
University of Alabama Lower Troposphere TLT MSU (UAH )
Remote Sensing Systems Lower Troposphere TLT MSU (RSS)
National Center for Environmental Protection Reanalysis (NCEP50)
European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts Reanalysis (ERA40)

“Eight of these authorities agree that the globe is currently cooling. Only GISS disagrees.

because of increasing greenhouse gas emissions

“No evidence is presented to justify this conclusion. There are “projections” of computer models but these are not predictions, they are merely the results of assumptions made in the model. No “projected” result has ever been successfully related to an actual change in the climate.

Measurements show that greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere are well above levels seen for many thousands of years.

“This statement is a lie. 90,000 measurements published in peer-reviewed journals since 1850, some by Nobel Prize-winners, have been suppressed by the IPCC because they do not agree with this statement. (Beck 2007). Stability of carbon dioxide in ice cores thousands of years old is questionable. (Jaworowski 2007). Recent measurements of carbon dioxide are confined only to exceptional circumstances over the ocean, and do not include measurements over land. (Manning et al 1994).

Further global climate changes are predicted

“This is another lie. Computer models of the climate have never been shown to be capable of prediction, and the IPCC recognises this by using the term “projections” for the output from the models. This statement refers only to greenhouse gas concentrations anyway, not to any other ‘global climate change.’”

ClimateGate: This Can’t Help

ClimateGate is devastating to the global warming industry, as alarmists are admitting, if mostly off-the-record and to sympathetic journalists (but I repeat myself). On its heels, however, and particularly for those dealing with insistent alarmists whimpering how ClimateGate reveals nothing,

In context, it might be just as damning in the eyes of those open to reason.

It comes from an IPCC coordinating lead author who details the IPCC process’s inherent corruption — affirming the details thereof that I also painted after speaking to former lead authors in The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism — and he joins the impressive ranks of actual “leading scientists” cutting their IPCC ties for the same reason. As you read it recall the specific defenses against ClimateGate’s meaning.

A compelling angle to this is that it appears to have been written days before ClimateGate documents made their way to select servers and before the admissions were widely known.

A draft proposal released by the United Nation’s climate negotiating group outlines a plan for creating two new international agencies designed to transfer technology and money from developed Western states such as the United States to undeveloped Third World Countries.

Among the proposals the draft agreement outlines are a new international agency responsible for redistributing financial resources from developed countries to developing ones and another new international agency that would coordinate the redistribution of advanced technologies to those same developing countries.

Under the proposed agreement, the details of which will be worked out over the coming week, developed countries--including the United States--would be responsible for not only enacting their own “legally-binding” environmental laws but also for funding and assisting the environmental agendas of Third World states...

'Science Is Dying': What Media Are Really Missing About ClimateGate

Subject: txt grn bdd lbrty msm bias -
While most global warming-obsessed media have either ignored or downplayed the significance of the growing ClimateGate scandal, the Wall Street Journal has been on top of this story since it first broke two weeks ago.

On Thursday, Journal editorial page deputy editor Daniel Henninger penned a piece that should be an absolute must-read for all the so-called journalists in America that have either intentionally boycotted this controversy or have participated in hiding its seriousness from the public.

Called "Climategate: Science Is Dying," the article exposed some inconvenient truths far more ominous than anything in Nobel Laureate Al Gore's award winning schlockumentary:

If the new ethos is that "close-enough" science is now sufficient to achieve political goals, serious scientists should be under no illusion that politicians will press-gang them into service for future agendas. Everyone working in science, no matter their politics, has an [sic] stake in cleaning up the mess revealed by the East Anglia emails. Science is on the credibility bubble. If it pops, centuries of what we understand to be the role of science go with it.

And, if we had an honest press versus a news media filled with political activists, this would be the tenor of the discussion since ClimateGate first broke.

After all, this isn't just about global warming, cap and trade, or the environment.

What these e-mail messages demonstrate is a concerted effort by a limited number of highly-influential scientists to control the dissemination of information for political reasons.

If this is allowed to go unchecked, not only does science lose all credibility in the future, but also raises questions about what other established truths were politically fabricated.

If that's not a storyline media can seek their teeth into, what is?

In a detailed post on BigGovernment.com, Competitive Enterprise Institute scholar and environmental expert Chris Horner warns that this provision is clearly intended to concentrate power in an unprecedented manner:

"But as we have been warning you in detail, this agenda transparently is not about GHG concentrations, or the climate.
