The tea parties and the town hall meetings could be a precursor of what will happen should Democrats be foolish enough to pass a government takeover of the nation's medical care.
The proposal includes taxing pacemakers, regulating vending machines and creating 111 new federal bureaucracies staffed by Democratic Party appointees.

One of the great mysteries in today's United States is how a country founded on the principle of individual freedom, having achieved great wealth and world influence, could have developed a political class bent on transforming the nation into a collective dominated by a powerful central government.
Unfortunately, destructive modern political philosophies, such as Marxism and socialism, manipulated by the self-absorbed to achieve political power, were matters John Adams and his fellow founding fathers could not have anticipated.
One need only watch many in the committed American Left make pilgrimages to those second- and third-world countries controlled by Marxist governments and fawn over their rulers. The diminished standard of living, the loss of liberty, and the bleak future for the people of these nations are ignored while the power achieved by the head of state is celebrated.
While John Adams and his fellow founders could not have anticipated what has happened to the country they established, they did give it a framework -- a constitution -- which can enable us to avoid the same egocentrism that led to the downfall of other major civilizations.
The country can return to the path of economic and social prosperity and relegate the Left to the background of the nation's politics, where they belong, once and for all. The key is time, and time is something we have little of.
The 2010 elections will be the most important midterm election in our history.

It's a helpful talking point for mainstream media types bent on portraying the Hoffman loss in the district last night as evidence of how the Republican mainstream has moved away from conservatism.

Today, we have a president given to us by the Democratic Party, just like Jimmy Carter in the 1970's. Both followed increasingly unpopular wars, at least to the media. Both seemed to be novices, which the media deemed virtuous. Both have proven woefully inept at handling the demands of the office, but the media conveniently glosses over this fault.
Popular during the Carter years was a "survivalist" publication called Ruff Times. The end was near to the American way of life, according to Howard Ruff. It was time to head for the hills.

First, the Russian government has taken control of all the traditional mass media organs. The Russian counterparts to ABC, CBS, NBC, The New York Times, The LA Times and The Washington Post are all directly owned and operated by the Russian government.
Second, one after another -- starting with legislator Galina Starovoitova and continuing to most recently include human rights activist Natalia Estemirova -- the Russian government's critics have been murdered. Needless to say, these killings have not been reported on the traditional mass media, much less has any complicity by the Kremlin been alleged.
The Kremlin's response to Western criticism of this neo-Soviet media crackdown has been singular: "Don't worry," we're told, because "the Russian Internet remains free and vibrant" and it picks up any slack left by the traditional media. Most recently, Russian "president" Dmitri Medvedev repeated this claim while being interviewed by CNN's milquetoast-in-chief, Fareed Zakaria, who let it pass without a word.
